Host City — Manila, Philippines
Welcome to Manila — where history, culture, and modern Filipino life come together.
As host destination of the 22nd International Congress of the Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists (PRCP) and the 53rd Annual Convention of the Philippine Psychiatric Association (PPA), January 19–22, 2027, Metro Manila offers delegates a dynamic introduction to the Philippines.
Discover centuries of history within the walls of Intramuros, explore the country’s art and heritage at the National Museum, experience the contemporary energy of Makati and Bonifacio Global City (BGC), and enjoy Manila’s diverse culinary scene. From heritage landmarks and local cuisine to shopping, arts, and nightlife, the capital offers plenty to discover beyond the congress. (Intramuros Administration)
Where to Go
A visit to Intramuros, Manila’s historic Walled City, is an excellent introduction to Philippine history. Explore Fort Santiago, where national hero José Rizal was imprisoned before his execution, and Casa Manila, which recreates the lifestyle and interiors of a 19th-century Filipino home.
Nearby, visit National Museum of Fine Arts and Rizal Park, or head toward Manila Bay for a sunset view. Delegates looking for a more contemporary experience can explore Makati and BGC for shopping, galleries, cafés, restaurants, and evening entertainment.
Where to Dine
No visit to Manila is complete without experiencing Filipino cuisine. For a heritage setting in Intramuros, delegates can try Barbara’s Heritage Restaurant for traditional Filipino dishes and cultural performances, or Ilustrado Restaurant for Filipino and Spanish-influenced cuisine.
For a more contemporary evening, Makati and BGC offer extensive international and local dining choices. Blackbird Makati occupies the historic Nielsen Tower, while BGC offers a lively collection of restaurants, cafés, bars, and lifestyle destinations.
Delegates should also look out for Filipino favorites such as adobo, kare-kare, sinigang, sisig, pancit, lechon, halo-halo, and the Philippines’ many regional specialties.
Beyond Manila
For delegates extending their stay, several memorable destinations are within reach of Metro Manila. Tagaytay is a popular nearby escape, known for its cooler climate, restaurants overlooking Taal Lake and Taal Volcano, and relaxed countryside atmosphere.
History enthusiasts can consider Corregidor Island, while travelers with more time may venture farther to Batangas for beaches and diving, Pampanga for its celebrated culinary heritage, or Banaue and the Cordillera region for mountain landscapes and the famous rice terraces.
For international delegates planning a longer Philippine holiday, destinations such as Palawan, Boracay, Bohol, and Cebu offer an opportunity to experience the country’s renowned islands, beaches, natural landscapes, and regional cultures.
